Actress Charlize Theron has signed on to star in ‘The Burning Plain’, an upcoming film with which screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga is set to mark his directorial debut.

The film, being financed by 2929 Productions, begins shooting in November.

Theron, also associated with the project as executive producer, will play the role of Sylvia, who tries to find common ground with her parents after a turbulent childhood.

Arriaga, who has been scripting for 11 years, has written ‘The Burning Plain’ for himself. He says that the film consists of thematically connected storylines, just like his previous scripts.

The film is being produced by While Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald.

Marc Butan of 2929 has revealed that around 20 million dollars will be spent on the film’s production.

Theron will next appear in the Paul Haggis-directed ‘In the Valley of Elah’. ANI
