Kate Hudson’s love ride

June 23rd, 2008

Kate Hudson Kate Hudson accompanied rumoured boyfriend Lance Armstrong to Canada at the weekend for a charity bike ride. The ‘Fool’s Gold’ actress and the cycling champion - who reportedly began dating last month - travelled to Ontario where Lance was joined by 40 local residents for the 117-kilometre race to help raise over $1 million on Saturday.

The Ride With Lance event was held to benefit cancer research at two hospitals, Grand River Hospital in Kitchener and Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Before the race, Kate and Lance - who has battled testicular cancer in the past - spent a romantic few days together.

They had a mini vacation in Muskoka where Kate’s mother, Goldie Hawn, has a cabin. On Friday, Kate took her four-year-old son Ryder out for lunch and ice cream in the trendy Toronto Yorkville shopping district and was also spotted with Lance’s children, Luke, eight, and six-year-old twin girls Grace and Isabelle, while he prepared for the race. Later that night, the couple were seen canoodling in the lobby of their hotel. Read more »

Jessica Alba likes Watersports

September 17th, 2007

It’s True! Apparently, Jessica Alba also likes to give herself some powerhouse wedgies… and from a spectator’s point of view, that’s a veeery good thing. Considering we’re in the winter months here in Canada, there sure are a lot of beach sets coming out lately - not that i’m complaining. Trust me, f i had the cash i’d be right there alongside Jessica… although i’d be underwater… with a camera.

Tricia Helfer does Playboy!

September 17th, 2007

To the joy of Battlestar Galactica nerds everywhere, Canadian model/actress Tricia Helfer will shed her “cylon suit”(whatever the hell that is) and grace the pages of Playboy next month. I personally have never seen an episode of Battlestar Galactica, but i do recognize Tricia Helfer from Canada’s Next Top Model(which i like way more than America’s original version, btw). Unfortunately Helfer won’t be returning as the host of the show in it’s second season… so i probably won’t be watching it anymore. Instead, they got that super gay Jay Manuel to take over the responsibilities, which is a little silly if you ask me, to switch from a Canadian top model, to a ultra-flamboyant American homo just doesn’t make sense.

London Fashion Week to allow thin models

September 17th, 2007

Models strutting catwalks at London Fashion Week should provide a certificate attesting their good health, but there will be no outright ban on wafer-thin women, the British Fashion Council said on Friday. In its report, the council recommended models under 16 should be outlawed from London’s catwalks. It said a medical certificate must be provided by September from doctors specializing in eating disorders. Spain and Italy have recommended banning models with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18.5 from catwalks, but the expert panel behind the report rejected the use of the index, saying it was not an accurate measure of health. “We have considered this carefully and listened to a range of expert views. But we do not believe a focus on BMI provides the way forward,” the report said. “We favor the alternative approach of promoting good health based on medical assessments of models participating in London Fashion Week.” The report acknowledged there was a problem with eating disorders among models and recommended a health education and awareness program be set up. “During the investigation, evidence of the vulnerability of women in the modeling profession was startling and models are at a high risk of eating disorders,” said the chair of the inquiry.
