High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has split with her boyfriend and co-star Zac Efron, and is considering posing for a men’s magazine - according to reports.

Hudgens, who was involved in a nude photo scandal earlier this month, split with boyfriend Efron while he was overseas, OK! magazine reported.

The mag said Hudgens was seen with another man at a Hollywood Hills party while Efron was in Australia to promote the movie Hairspray.

Eyewitesses told OK! magazine that Hudgens was “all over” her older date, and when someone asked her about Efron she “threw a fit”.

Meanwhile, the Starpulse entertainment blog reported Hudgens is considering posing for a men’s magazine - but has ruled out a spread in Playboy.

Earlier this month, a nude photo of Hudgens circulated widely on the internet.

Hudgens said she was “embarrassed” and regretted ever having taken the photos.

It is not yet known who leaked the photos.

Gwen Stefani Angers & Offends Malaysian Muslims

September 17th, 2007

Gwen Stefani could be forced to cancel her Malaysian show after a Muslim group branded her “indecent” and “obscene”.

The singer, who is currently on the road with her ‘Sweet Escape‘ tour, is due to perform in Kuala Lumpur next month but the National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students want the concert scrapped because Gwen’s image offends Islamic beliefs.

Mohamad Hilmi Ramli said: “Her video clips promoting the event are too obscene. We want the organizers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene.”

Ramli also slammed Malaysian mobile phone company Maxis Communications for promoting Gwen’s concert and exposing young Malaysians to “moral decay”.

He fumed: “Maxis has been staging a series of foreign acts to make a profit and to expose our young generation to things such as moral decay.”

Gwen’s Kuala Lumpur show is due to take place at the Stadium Putra on August 21.

The ‘Hollaback Girl’ singer will also perform in Australia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, China and Hawaii before taking her tour to Europe.

Christy Turlington, who relies on yoga to keep her healthy and balanced, is among a group of celebrities hoping to bring those benefits to the world.

Turlington, Russell Simmons and Ziggy Marley are participating in the Global Mala Project, an international effort that aims to use yoga-centered events to raise awareness and funds for global causes on the United Nations’ International Day of Peace. Events will be held in 30 countries, including Israel, Africa, India, Australia and the United States, beginning Sept. 21.

“With so many people involved, the impact is going to be quite astounding as a collective consciousness,” Turlington told The Associated Press. “There will be an energetic charge.”

“Selfless service” is part of the yogic tradition, the 38-year-old supermodel said, “so if anyone can lead in this way, this is the group to start with.”

Christina Aguilera no-show angers fans

August 6th, 2007

Christina Aguilera About 18,000 fans had their wishes dashed on Thursday night when Christina Aguilera cancelled her two Auckland shows at the last minute with a flu virus.

Many who flew to Auckland for the concerts vented their spleen online yesterday.

Susie Farmer, 13, of Christchurch, waited all day on Thursday with her father for the first concert to begin.

“I had been saving up for many months including using my birthday money,” she wrote. “The first that we knew that the concert was cancelled was when we were walking up toward Vector Arena.”

Other fans were alerted by an e-mail two hours before the concert was due to start.

A second concert due for last night was also cancelled. Ticketing agency Ticketmaster began issuing refunds yesterday.

Consumers Institute chief executive Sue Chetwin said there was a remote possibility people would get damages for flights and accommodation. “But it’s a very long shot. The promoter can argue they didn’t know it would happen. If you buy these tickets, you just have to hope the artist will appear.”

Jessica Abrigo of Christchurch flew her young sister and cousin to Auckland for the show, but now thought Aguilera was a “selfish little cow”.

“She can make it up to everyone by saying sorry to New Zealand at the next Grammy Awards … Otherwise she can get stuffed and no one should ever buy another one of her albums.”

Promoter Brent Eccles said Aguilera had been expected to recover from the virus which forced her to cancel earlier Australian shows, but the star could not get out of bed. (The Dominion Post)

With Race Row Still Rumbling, New British ‘Big Brother’ Kicks off

June 16th, 2007

Shilpa Shetty
A reality television show which sparked a racist bullying row involving Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty was back on air for a new series Wednesday.

But moments before the eighth series of “Big Brother” got under way, broadcasters Channel 4 were forced to screen details of the “significant failings” detected by communications watchdog Ofcom over the row.

In January, Ofcom received nearly 45,000 complaints about alleged racist material which centered on Shetty’s treatment at the hands of fellow contestants on the celebrity version of the show.

She was insulted by fellow stars including Jade Goody — a former reality TV celebrity whose profile has plummeted since — and former Miss Great Britain Danielle Lloyd.

Shetty also rowed with fellow contestants when she cooked a chicken and they made derogatory comments about the eating habits of Indian people.

As a punishment for the way it handled the row, Channel 4 had to show the statement, which concluded by saying: “This ensures that the largest number of viewers will be made fully aware of the seriousness of Channel 4’s failure to comply (with Ofcom’s code).”

The code aims to protect viewers from potentially offensive material.

“Big Brother” is a massively popular show with versions worldwide where viewers chose a winner from among contestants whose activities are broadcast around the clock by cameras inside their studio house.

Shetty, 31, won the celebrity version earlier this year for what many viewers saw as a dignified performance in the face of alleged racist bullying.

The latest, non-celebrity version features an all-female cast of contestants and house rules have been tightened to warn against bullying and offensive remarks on the basis of race, religion or sexuality.

“Big Brother” also came under fire in Australia earlier this month when it emerged that a contestant had not been told of the death of her father.
