More Promotions for "Blood Brothers" Movie

New promotional posters have been released for “Blood Brothers”, the closing film at this year’s upcoming Venice Film Festival.

Among the mug shots adorning the posters are lead actors Hsu Chi, Daniel Wu, Liu Ye and Chang Chen.

It is an action film telling a story happened in 1930s Shanghai.

Legendary Hong Kong action film director John Woo and Terence Chang are on board as co-producers.

The storyline is based on Woo’s 1990 film “Die Xue Jie Tou” (Bullet in the Head).

The movie has been invited to close the 64th Venice Film Festival on 8 September.

Fan Bingbing Opens Her Own Company

Fan Bingbing In spite of the flourishing speculation over the future of Chinese actress Fan Bingbing once she finished her seven year contract with Huayi Bros, few could have predicted that she would announce the establishment of her own company on Tuesday during the ongoing Shanghai Television Festival.

Shanghai-based Oriental Morning Post reports the company will deal with all aspect of the actress’ career including her acting, singing and film roles.

The actress also held a press conference for the first investment effort of her company, a TV drama named “Yan Zhi Xue” which is her debut as a producer.

When asked why she decided to open her own company, the actress confessed that she disliked the role of a “passive” actress. “While actors are performing roles, they usually have to act according to the thoughts and ideas of directors and screenwriters.” In order to have more control over her career, Fan Bingbing decided to be her own boss.

Fan Bingbing revealed her new company will only be involved in the production and release of TV dramas and movies for the first few years.

"Super Girl" Shang Wenjie Launches First EP

Shang WenjieThe latest winner of China’s extremely popular TV singing competition Super Girl, Shang Wenjie, released her first musical offering on Wednesday.

The EP, entitled “A La Claire Fontaine,” collects four songs, including the French song Shang Wenjie sang for the 2006 Hollywood film “The Painted Veil.”

Huayi Brothers Music, the EP’s distributor, says that another 20,000 deluxe-packaged copies will also be available through online purchase from June 8.

Fans of Shang Wenjie worldwide will be able to buy the limited version soon at pconline.com.cn (in Chinese).

Shang Wenjie, a former French language major at Shanghai’s prestigious Fudan University, rose to national fame after taking the first prize in the 2006 Super Girl contest.
